Commission on Economic Opportunity

Having benefited from a BiddingForGood (cMarket) online auction the previous year, The Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) opted to once again put their catalog of items online to raise funds for existing services. The CEO's "Vacation from Hunger" fundraising auction, helped to generate money for their summer meals program - as part of their continuing effort to end childhood hunger.

Established in 1965, this multi-service nonprofit is dedicated to combating poverty amongst lower-income families and individuals. The CEO is credited with founding several organizations and programs that benefit children in need, encourage constructive youth development services and scholarships, conservation for energy and the environment, and in-home services to promote independence in the elderly and disabled.

As part of their fundraising initiatives, The CEO has found success at rallying their community of local businesses, faith-based organizations and residents to champion area programs. As such, they were able to use their online auction to gain further support from their constituents, maximizing the potential of BiddingForGood (cMarket)'s services and increasing their auction revenue. The CEO took full advantage of the development opportunities a BiddingForGood (cMarket) fundraising auction affords.  They used their online auction homepage to encourage participants to contribute to their auction, and drove viewers to the "Donate an Item" button on the pages. They created new categories within their catalog to peak bidders' interests and build excitement and anticipation for "Items Coming Soon". They were also effective at facilitating competitive bidding by drawing viewers' attention to the Top 10 Items List and Top 10 Bidders List, contributing to the overall profitability of their auction.

"Vacation from Hunger" raised over $14,000 for The Commission on Economic Opportunity's summer meals programs for children. The CEO's effective techniques for engaging their supporters, and applying their expertise from the previous auction helped to make this fundraiser a success.
